We stayed in a swim-up suite in Sunrise at Moon Palace. The grounds were beautiful! Lots of greenery, flowers, and the occasional cute capybara running by! Rooms were a little awkward, with a jacuzzi tub in the middle of the room, but overall, not too shabby. Beds are Full, not Queen, but they were comfortable, nonetheless. Housekeeping was wonderful, and our rooms were always cleaned and stocked. The swim-up was a little cold, but we really only used it to lounge in between activities. Wasn’t worth the extra fee; would have preferred an ocean view room.
Where our building was located, we were not a far walk from the pool or the beach. The pools had plenty of seating, even for our large group of 8. The wait staff was pretty attentive while poolside – especially when tipped well! Drinks were good, but a little weak (typical of all-inclusive resorts), but when you asked for an extra shot, they brought it! We were even given a Mexican Candy shot, which may have been the best drink of all! The pools had some fun activities that the kids (ages 9 and 12) enjoyed – dance parties, balloon games, etc… There was a kids pool with lots of mini water activities, which the 9 year old’s really liked. They had a glitter tattoo artist one day that was a huge hit!
Food was great overall. The buffets had a lot to choose from. They typically had themed nights (Mexican, Italian, etc…), but still had basics for your picky eaters. The steak house, Carvao, at Nizuc, was the best, by far! Tableside meat carving (think Fogo de Chao) with tons of choices. My picky 9 year old ordered pizza, but ended up eating all of the meat! Room service was a little slow, typically took about an hour, but it was always yummy, and there were tons of choices.
Since we went around Christmas, they had a cute holiday-themed venue called “Candyland.” It had several scenes where you could take holiday photos, a ball pit, a train to ride, some food stands, and even Santa! They kids really enjoyed it. Our family also had professional family pictures taken (which is offered by the resort.) It was a free 45 minute session. You then get to review the pictures, and choose the ones you like. We did this when we stayed at Beach Palace, too. The pictures came out great! They are a little pricey, but it was definitely worth it for us.
Overall, I would recommend Moon Palace as a great family vacation destination. I would definitely go back with my family.
